I was a classical
studies major in College (I don't know what good 30
hours of Latin or the courses "religions of the ancient
world" "development of law in ancient Greece" or
"history of sparta" do for you in the modern world, but
I loved them all!) No surprise then that historical
fiction is my favorite type of reading. You'll notice
certain themes: ancient civilizations; feminist
renderings of well known stories; magic, religion and
royalty. When I've been working too hard or just need a
great escape, one of these books and a bath usually
fixes me right up. KVS
