Notes from the Universe: New Perspectives from an Old Friend

What if the Universe were to send you frequent reminders of the absolute power you have over your life? Author Mike Dooley, an interpreter for the Universe, has done exactly that in Notes from the Universe -- a collection of empowering, invaluable truths that can be read front to back or opened at random. This first book in the Notes from the Universe trilogy teaches its readers to live a life far richer than they had previously thought imaginable.

The Go-Giver: A Little Story About a Powerful Business Idea by Bob Burg

“The powerful business idea referenced in the title is that ‘shifting the focus from getting to giving and putting the other person first is the key to business success and personal fulfillment.’ … Explanations of these concepts and how to employ them are clear and to the point, and as with all successfully written business books, it will provoke thought and probably action as well.”  —Booklist

The 4-Hour work Week: Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere, and Join the New Rich by Timothy Ferris

Tim Ferris is an extraordinary young man on a mission. The twenty-eight-year-old serial vagabond and successful entrepreneur has been teaching a wildly popular course at Princeton University for the past four years--a how-to and why-to guide to throwing out the old tools and methods for success (balancing life and work, retiring well, having a great nest egg) and replacing them with a whole new way of living. Readers can lead a rich life by working only four hours a week, freeing up the rest of their time to spend it living the lives they want.

The Intention Experiment: Using Your Thoughts to Change Your Life and the World

I've been reading Lynn McTaggart's book, The Intention Experiment (and wow, if you haven't taken in this mind-blowing book that summarizes the available science to date about how consciousness shapes reality, do so now!)  In a truly fascinating chapter on healing the past, McTaggart talks about the idea that prayers and intentions in the present can actually make a difference not just now or in the future, but in the past as well.

McTaggart's findings came as no surprise to me, because esoteric teachings and quantum physics both posit that Time is only a construct of the mind.  I've seen this idea work with my clients time and time again as I've helped them re-write the "scripts" of traumatic memories to produce real healing in the present, not only for themselves, but often for their ancestors and children too.

Relax Into Wealth: How to Get More by Doing Less by Alan Cohen

In this definitive guide to building inner and outer wealth, Alan demonstrates the intrinsic link between passion, authenticity, and prosperity. He shows that nothing pays like . . . being yourself. While most prosperity or success books are formula driven, Relax into Wealth is people-driven. Alan shares many true stories of successful people he has encountered, including celebrities, Midas-touch entrepreneurs, shuttle-bus drivers, and wide-eyed children. This book can be life-changing as you discover that ease, flow, and self-care will get you what you want far more effectively than struggle, strain, or self-denial. Penetrating exercises bring these lessons home and show you how to get tangible results far more easily than you have thought. "Alan Cohen is one of my favorite authors." Wayne Dyer, author of Inspiration

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

Every few decades a book is published that changes the lives of its readers forever. The Alchemist is such a book. With over a million and a half copies sold around the world, The Alchemist has already established itself as a modern classic, universally admired. Paulo Coelho's charming fable, now available in English for the first time, will enchant and inspire an even wider audience of readers for generations to come. The Alchemist is the magical story of Santiago, an Andalusian shepherd boy who yearns to travel in search of a worldly treasure as extravagant as any ever found. From his home in Spain he journeys to the markets of Tangiers and across the Egyptian desert to a fateful encounter with the alchemist. The story of the treasures Santiago finds along the way teaches us, as only a few stories have done, about the essential wisdom of listening to our hearts, learning to read the omens strewn along life's path, and, above all, following our dreams.

Secrets of the Millionaire Mind
by Harv T. Eker

Eker's claim to fame is that he took a $2,000 credit card loan, opened "one of the first fitness stores in North America," turned it into a chain of 10 within two and a half years and sold it in 1987 for a cool (but somewhat modest-seeming) $1.6 million. Now the Vancouver-based entrepreneur traverses the continent with his "Millionaire Mind Intensive Seminar," on which this debut motivational business manual is based. The Architecture of All Abundance: Creating a Successful Life in the Material World by Lenedra J. Carroll

Lenedra Carroll, the mother and manager of singer/songwriter Jewel, offers a memoir that speaks to her spiritual theories on creating abundance. The Architecture of All Abundance, her "rag to riches" life story, starts out when the author is a young girl growing up poor in a small Alaskan village and winds up with Carroll becoming a successful CEO of a global entertainment enterprise. More than a memoir, this is more accurately an inspirational book on how you too can build a fulfilling life that includes plenty of spirit and prosperity. Carroll emphasizes the timeless truths of spiritual abundance--ones that readers have probably heard before: listen to your soul's voice, ask the right questions, make time for stillness, own the fear instead of avoiding it, remember that generosity generates prosperity. Yet, like any effective teacher, Carroll has the ability to package these nuggets of wisdom with just the right anecdote or just the right phrasing so that it finally sinks in. It's not uncommon to find provocative passages such as, "We can all realize that while the fear is real, it is also true that what we fear is like a mirage rising off the heat of a projected or past pain." Although her structure of alternating poetry, personal stories, and spiritual advice makes the book slightly disjointed, Carroll's eloquence as a narrator ties it together.

The Science of Getting Rich or Financial Success Through Creative Thought by Wallace D. Wattles

This is the Grandaddy of all the abundance titles.  If you've seen or read "The Secret" or "Think and Grow Rich" or "Ask and It Is Given," it's worth going back to this seminal work to get the basics of how the law of attraction operates.  Wallace Wattles was way ahead of his time.  The language is dated and the author obviously had a bias against paranormal experiences; beyond that I'd give this title my highest recommendation.  If you want to expose and challenge the beliefs that get in the way of creating the abundance you seek, read this book and work the principles.  KVS

Creating Money: Keys to Abundance
by
Sanaya Roman, Duane Packer

Money is one form of abundance that occupies most peoples minds at one time or another. When I read the preface, I discovered this book included channeled information. After reading it, I don't care who wrote it. Its good. It offers a common-sense, spiritualistic approach to creating what you want in your life.

Think and Grow Rich
by Napoleon Hill

TRULY, "thoughts are things," and powerful things that, when they are mixed with definiteness of purpose, persistence, and a burning desire for their translation into riches, or other material objects.

Ask & It Is Given Book & Cards
by Esther Hicks

"Channels a collective group of evolved souls that call themselves Abraham.  I'm not one of those people who recommends channeled material just because it's channeled (first you have to ask yourself if the channeler is for real; then you are faced with the dilemma of discerning how to know if the channeled material is worthwhile.  After all, being discarnate doesn't necessarily make one wise or benign).  That said, I find the advice of Abraham to be consistently reasonable, sensible and compassionate.  Abraham's teachings focus primarily on the Law of Attraction.  If you are ready to take responsibility for your life and begin at least experimenting with the principles of attraction, this is a worthwhile read.  The cards are a lovely accompaniment to the book--a tool to help you play with the principles of synchronicity and attraction in your daily life. ~KVS

When it comes to creating the life you want, Shakti Gawain literally wrote the book. Now considered a classic, Creative Visualization teaches readers how to use their imaginations to manifest their deepest desires. In a straight-talking narrative, Gawain uses the first part to cover the basics, with chapters such as "How to Visualize," "Affirmations," and "Creative Visualization Only Works for the Good." Once she shows readers how visualization actually works, Gawain moves on to loftier discussions, such as "Contacting Your Higher Self," "Meeting Your Guide," "Setting Goals," and "Treasure Maps."
